This person will provide production support, prepare molds for production, maintain and troubleshoot injection molds, perform routine maintenance and repairs. They will provide communication and feedback to supervision, Product Line Champions (PLC), and engineering. They will support engineering projects and suggest mold modifications and repairs. This person will prepare molds for production by properly disassembling, cleaning, and lubricating molds and they will change inserts and markers when necessary. They will perform preventative maintenance on molds and assist manufacturing technicians in the repair or rebuilding of injection molds in support of manufacturing production. This person will work with department PLC to implement and maintain 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards, they will work with molding technician to troubleshoot, evaluate and solve mold issues, and they will implement and participate in process improvement teams. They will also participate in the mold development process and provide input to ensure robust tooling is designed and fabricated. This person will be required to provide feedback and pro-active communication to supervisors, management and coworkers to ensure efficient operations. Contributions will be based on individuals industry experience and hands-on knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems and components. This person will also troubleshoot and solve problems with routine manufacturing processes and equipment, documenting activities according to GMP and other regulatory requirements and will work to keep equipment and operations running efficiently and to the quality standards of the company. This person will be required to assist manufacturing engineers and project engineer by participating in project planning meetings and design reviews and recommend possible solutions and they will assist in the design, build and development of prototypes. This person will be asked to study and make recommendations for improvements or changes to standards and manufacturing procedure specifications that will improve overall production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. This person will perform preventive maintenance on various equipment following documented procedures and they will set up and operate various equipment such as lathe, drill press, grinder, milling machine, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. This person will need experience with various TQ tools to analyze trends through statistical analysis and they will need quality control measurement ability using calipers/micrometers and other inspection equipment. They must also be able to work within tolerances as close as +/-.0001. This person will have full access to a conventional machine shop and they must be able to perform most machining tasks in support of the required responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
Associates degree in engineering related discipline, four year state approved tool and die maker apprenticeship, or two year technical trade school and experience operating conventional machining equipment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working introductory knowledge of SolidWorks or similar software is required. Knowledge of routine drafting practices and standards is preferred. Ability to operate a standard lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, and other tool making equipment for fast turn around of simple to moderately complex tooling and fixturing is necessary. Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings is required. Completion of state approved apprenticeship and papers preferred. Prescribed industry accreditations/certificates will be considered in lieu of education and experience.
