The Information Systems Engineer II’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions, including Software Validation initiatives. This is achieved by implementing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Information Systems Engineer II will apply proven project management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments and ensure the validated state of applicable software systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Support Software Validation initiatives by documenting end user requirements, creating validation plans, developing installation and performance testing scripts, and assisting in the executing test scripts as needed for new and existing software packages.
Plan, deploy, manage and troubleshoot new applications, enhancements to existing applications, and existing applications software, and operating systems (such as Master Control and Visual) to support department and organization goals.
Plan, deploy, manage and troubleshoot label printing hardware and software to support manufacturing package and product identification requirements.
Install, upgrade, configure and troubleshoot network printing (including printer and copier administration and maintenance), directory structures, rights, security, and software on file servers and server infrastructure including windows updates and patches as needed.
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, leveraging lab servers to test modified and new software or hardware systems in support of software upgrade and validation planning.
Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Plan and deploy new or enhance existing desktop and server hardware systems as required. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
Manage, upgrade and troubleshoot IP Telephony system including call management servers, voice mail servers and instant messenger servers.
Design and perform server and security audits, execute backup and restore procedures (files and databases), and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Perform network security monitoring and troubleshooting of web filtering, and email filtering appliances and ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
Maintain and upgrade server virtualization infrastructure.
Establish network users, user environments, directories, mailboxes, phone extensions, voicemail and security for new employees.
Provide technical support to end users for audio/visual, hardware, software or network issues.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
Spends time with system users, talks with users and listens empathetically to their concerns and provide prompt and courteous responses.
Provides feedback and pro-active communication to supervisor, management, and co-workers to ensure efficient and effective operations. Contributes input to management based on knowledge of processes toward process and product improvement efforts of the company.
Train and Mentor Information Systems Co-op or Information Systems Intern employees.
Provide orientation and training to end-users for all modified and new systems.
Adhere to and insure compliance with all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Follows the official policy for Good Manufacturing Practices as required in the Medical Device Amendments to the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.
Performs raw data collection and interpretation.
Responsible for project management and general management support.
Provide other department and manufacturing support as requested by immediate supervisor.
Process administrative matters without problems to maintain up to date records.
Other duties may be assigned.
This job has no specific supervisory responsibilities; however, this individual may be responsible for providing guidance, training and mentoring to Information Systems co-op or Information Systems intern employees. In addition this individual is responsible for ensuring all employees are actively following company policy by reporting discrepancies to appropriate employee supervision.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science or computer engineering and proven experience in information systems related field or equivalent combination of technical education including certification and a minimum of five years of work experience in an information systems centric role.
Prior experience leading information systems projects utilizing project management principals and Total Quality Management (TQM) tools and successful completion of five or more Information Systems projects.
Familiarity with the Windows Server family and Windows Desktop Operating System family including experience with design, management and troubleshooting a Windows Active Directory domain infrastructure.
Ability to design, implement and maintain a virtual environment using VMWare Virtual Infrastructure and/or vSphere technologies.
Ability to maintain and upgrade Cisco Unified Communication Servers.
Ability to implement and maintain a variety of Microsoft office products including Word, Power Point and Outlook.
Ability to implement and maintain a Microsoft Exchange Server Messaging environment.
Ability to implement and maintain a TCP/IP (Internet Protocol) network infrastructure.
Ability to implement and maintain Cisco Routers and Switches running IOS Release 12.2 and later.
